We are on a quest. Said knight is on foot and in need of a mount. How can a knight be a champion without a horse? Champion of what you may inquire….roping of course! Daniel has been caught by a rope/lariat/lasso and is looking for a horse to go with. He wants to get into team roping. We looked at a good possibility in Phoenix yesterday. The horse is 24 and still a little hot but a definite maybe. Proud of Daniel for mounting up after 2 years confidently and with great form.

Dad helped him get a steer head set up and he’s making loops! Working on welding together a roping dummy.

God graciously has given us several folks we can’t trust our son with to learn from with little/no profanity and good sportsmanship (no trash talking)! The pastor and his wife are horse trainers, previous 4H leaders who Daniel is comfortable with. They will be his coaches. A fellow rancher we go to church with has offered a very quite horse for him to start with while we search. We were discussing roping and in his typical, slow, understated way he quietly said “Let’s go out to the truck”. Next thing, they were roping rocks in the church parking lot and discussing proper hand position.

Headed down a new trail…..
