June is officially all grown up and graduated. We sold her two weeks ago. She most likely was bought by another ranch as a replacement heifer.

June graduated to joining the main herd…hence the new brand on her rear and tag in her ear. She grew really well with the extra nutrition the grower and finisher provided. Without it, dogie calves stay little and runty looking since mom isn’t around. She will run with the big girls now. Next up….a calf next summer (we hope).
So June is now a strapping 400+ pound heifer and coping just fine. She has graduated to a real pen as she was hogging all the goats feed. Daniel hasn’t decided if he will use her for 4-H or not but he needs to halter break her soon!
We recently moved June into a new pen, aka the garden that didn’t grow, so the goats wouldn’t grow fat on her feed. She is happy because she shares a fence with them. As she grows we will move her into a more permanent pen again. It struck me as we were walking 100 feet how like her we are….she willingly followed as long as the bottle was in her mouth and has never noticed the fences are flimsy and she could get out if she really wanted to. How Satan tempts us with “goodie” and how often do we live in and with fences of our own making?
June the dogie calf is growing well and is about twice the size of the photo now. We will move her out of the goat pen and into another calf proof pen this week, as she is big enough to start on a regular feed ration along with milk. The goats like her feed. I still think she’s stealing from the dairy goat too.
June is doing good and growing like a weed. I think she’s stealing some from our dairy goat, Tater, as well, since one side was markedly less full this morning!
